Does Tyger Host use Unix or NT servers?

We use Unix servers running CentOS 5.x and the popular Direct Admin Control Panel.

What do I get with my account?

We have several plans for you to choose from that are cost effective and more than capable of handling all your domain hosting needs. We don't charge you a set-up fee and all accounts come with many valuable features such as support for SSL Secure Server Certificates, Mail Manager System, CGI-bin, FTP, SSH access, Traffic Statistics Software, FrontPage Extensions, and more. We will also register your domain name for you. All you do is pay the Domain Name registration fee. For a full description of our accounts and features, please visit our Hosting Plans section.

Do I have to register my domain name or can you do that for me?

Tyger Host can register Top Level Domain (TLD) names such as .com, .net, .org, .tv , for our clients. For more information about this, please see our Domain Registration page.

To use this service, indicate on your order form that you would like us to register your new domain name where requested. The domain name registration will be submitted upon receipt of payment for the registration fees.

If you do not prefer to do this, you can also register your domain name with Network Solutions or other registrar using our Domain Name Server information:

On your order form indicate that you will handle the domain name registration.

You are the owner of your Domain name. Tyger Host only acts as a registering agent and is listed as the Technical Contact.

How much disk space do I get for my web pages and graphics?

The Bronze Hosting Plan comes with 1000 MB of disk space and can hold over 100,000 pages with plenty more room for graphics, sounds, scripts, and other files!

The Silver Hosting Plan comes with 5000 MB of disk space with plenty of room for graphics, sounds, scripts, and other files!

The Gold Hosting Plan comes with 10000 MB of disk space and can hold over 25,000 pages with plenty more room for graphics, sounds, scripts, and other files!

The Tyger Host Reseller comes with 10000 MB of disk space and can hold over 5,000 pages with plenty more room for graphics, sounds, scripts, and other files!

The Silver eCommerce Hosting Plan comes with 100 MB of disk space and can hold over 2,500 pages with plenty more room for graphics, sounds, scripts, and other files!

The Bronze eCommerce Hosting Plan comes with 50 MB of disk space and can hold over 1,250 pages with plenty more room for graphics, sounds, scripts, and other files!

What are FrontPage extensions and do you support them?

Frontpage is a Microsoft page creation tool that requires special server extensions to function properly. We support FrontPage 98/2000/2002 on all our accounts for no additional charge.

Can I depend on fast downloading speeds when others access my site?

YES! Our servers are in a small, local data centre with redundant connections to more than a half dozen Tier 1 backbones. An OC-48 (1.5 gigabits) and an OC-12 (650 megabits) are our pipes to the world, and they are some truly impressive pipes. Giving you incredible speed at all times!

Do your servers support SSL certificates for transferring credit card information securely?

YES! Our servers support the latest SSL technology so your customers can safely order your products or services online! Normally, any text sent from your browser is sent as plain text. This means that a hacker could potentially intercept the information sent from your browser and read it.

By using the secure server (SSL), the information is encrypted before it is sent. It would be practically impossible for anyone to decrypt it without knowing the key. You DO however have to buy a security certificate to enable the secure server.

What is a "parked" domain name and how much does it cost?

Parked domains are aliases of other domains. For example, say we have mary.com parked to your main account at steve.com. This would mean that anyone who goes to mary.com would automatically go to steve.com. There is no actual hosting involved with mary.com. Mary.com merely acts as a nickname to steve.com. Parked domains are available for a one time $10.00 setup fee.

Can I upload pages frequently?

Each account comes with one FTP account. You have full access to your space via FTP 24 hours a day, 7 days a week so you can update your site at your leisure.

How much data transfer do you allow for my web site?

The Bronze Hosting Plan comes with 2,000 Megabytes of data transfer per month.

The Silver Hosting Plan comes with 5,000 Megabytes of data transfer per month.

The Gold Hosting Plan comes with 5,000 Megabytes of data transfer per month.

The Platinum Hosting Plan comes with 5,000 Megabytes of data transfer per month.

The Basic eCommerce Hosting Plan comes with 10,000 Megabytes of data transfer per month.

The Deluxe eCommerce Hosting Plan comes with 10,000 Megabytes of data transfer per month.

What is a CGI-bin and do I get one?

A CGI-bin is where you would store CGI scripts. These scripts are used to generate online order forms, guestbooks, shopping carts, counters, and more! YES, every account comes with a local CGI-bin!

What CGI scripts come already installed?

All hosting accounts do not include any pre-installed CGI scripts. If you are interested in adding CGI scripts to your account, you may do so. You will find a list of various CGI script collections on our Web Resources section.

What is the Account Control Panel?

We offer an remarkable program to manage all the features associated with your hosting account. You can manage your email, CGI scripts, databases, mailing list, and much more! You can find more information on our Control Panel Demo section.

What are autoresponders/infobots and how many do I get?

You can set up autoresponders to automatically respond to incoming email. For example, if you had an order form which your customers email to you, you can set up an autoresponder to email the customer a confirmation message. They're also known as Infobots . There are many other uses for autoresponders/infobots, such as giving information to people who don't have access to the Internet but still have an email account such as Juno, Hotmail or Yahoo!.

What are email aliases and how many can I use?

Email aliases are email addresses that you make up. Any mail sent to these aliases would automatically be forwarded to your existing POP email account or redirected to another third party POP account.

You can have as many email aliases as you want, your mail account is pre-configured to "Catch All" email directed at anyname@yourdomain.com.

What about the Traffic Statistical Software?

Traffic analysis software comes pre-installed with every web hosting account! We use the Direct Admin Control Panel and it is very easy to access your web stats.

If you already have an account with us, you can access your weekly stats by simply logging into your Site Administrators control panel.

What about Technical Support?

We provide web hosting services to many clients and from experience we have found that handling support requests via Support Tickets to be to our clients greatest advantage. We answer all Support Tickets on the same day it is received - most often in only a very few hours. To submit a Support Ticket simply email us at support@itechosting.com.

We have also set-up Technical Support Pages to help you with all aspects of your web hosting account. In the event your are experiencing server difficulties outside the scope of these pages you can email Technical Support at support@tygerhost.com or call 780-xxx.xxxx to speak to technical support or leave a detailed explanation of your problem and a tech will respond to your request(s) promptly.

What kind of technical support do you NOT provide?

We do not provide any technical support relating to HTML syntax, Java programming, JavaScripting, any 3rd party software, CGI programming, or CGI scripts, nor any other non-network related aspect. We have included a Webmaster Resources section that will provide you links where you can obtain support outside of the scope of our Technical Support!

How do I sign up for a New Web Hosting Account?

What types of account activities are prohibited?

We do not allow sites with adult content or pornography. We also do not permit spamming or spamming related software on our system. Any accounts failing to adhere to these policies may be deactivated without warning. Please see our Acceptable Use Policies for more information.

Do you support subdomains or wildcards?

We do not support wildcards.

We can create subdomains for your account mydomain.com like sub.mydomain.com

If you want to have sub.mydomain.com point to the main index page for mydomain.com there is no additional charge.

If you want to have sub.mydomain.com point to a subdirectory or different page in mydomain.com aside from your main index page, this will need to be a separate account. This new account can use any of our hosting packages ranging in price from $4.95 - $49.95.

When I publish my site, none of the FrontPage extensions work

Be sure you published your site using the FrontPage Web Publisher. Regular FTP programs tend to corrupt the FrontPage extensions.

When I publish with FrontPage98, it places the files inside my personal web folder

We have encountered this problem on several occasions, and it has been traced to a problem with the way FrontPage98 searches for the root web and publishes files under certain configurations. The only solution is to upgrade to FrontPage2002 or Microsoft Expression Web, which will solve the problem completely.
